Catch a vision, meet a need, make a friend!
What
can God do in two weeks?
I was doubtful that God could do much in such a short amount
of time, but after having spent two weeks in China on the
vision trip, I was delightfully surprised at how much God
showed me, spoke to me, used me and everyone else on my team
as well! As one of my teammates commented on the plane ride
home, “I would describe the trip as opening eyes and
opening hearts.” I think we both witnessed more God-movements
than either of us expected.

Catch a Vision
On this trip, you will have a taste of China's urban
culture, prayer-walk at historical and cultural sites, meet bivocational professionals
(i.e. tentmakers), hear their testimonies, and learn how Christianity
has impacted China's past and continues to do so in the
present. Come catch
a vision for what possibilities God might have for you in
China.
Meet a Need, Make a Friend
Also, this trip will take you to a remote inland region,
where you will see the other face of modern China - the poor
rural region of the far west. Here you will be a part
of a greatly appreciated week-long English conversation program
for local English teachers of junior high and high school
students. These teachers are eager to practice their
English with native speakers to find out if they can
actually be understood! You can share your life and build friendships
that will last long after the trip is over.
I have never felt close to China…a
land and a nation so distant and alien, (but) the day
we prayer walked in Tiananmen Square, it dawned on me that
this is precisely how God personalized China for me. He stirred
in me a need to pray for China through the people and the
places I have come to love on this trip – the faces
of the local leaders and teachers, the conference center staff,
the fu wu yuans (service staff) and shi fu’s
(chauffeurs), the streets we roamed
through, the stores we bargained in, the restaurants we ate
at. In fond memories of the experience, God is stretching
my heart to intercede for the people of China. I know for
sure I want to go back in the very near future for another
mission trip.
