Breaking it Down... What You Will Be Doing
As much as possible, the Vision Team will fly out together from an international
airport in the US and arrive together in one of China’s
major cities. You will spend two days adjusting to the new
time zone and bonding with
teammates. Then you will fly into a rural province in the
western part of China, where you will spend five or six days
facilitating English conversations using a prepared curriculum. Your class will consist of about ten students,
who are English teachers of high school and middle
school students. You will teach for three hours every
morning and then spend
time with the students in the afternoons and evenings in various
activities.
At the end of the teaching program, the team will fly back
to the original city, where you can rest up, prayer-walk at historical sites,
meet long-term Christian workers (tentmakers) and some local
believers that they work with. There may also be
opportunity
to visit an orphanage and other Christian ministries.
Within just two weeks, you will have been exposed to a wide breadth of experiences
with much to reflect upon and offer back to God. Perhaps you will have
caught a vision for the future. Perhaps your outlook on life
will be altered. Perhaps you will have a new sense of purpose
to live for God in your everyday work when you return to the States.
Whatever the case may be, you will not return the same as
when you left!

“God
taught me to release my dependence on financial planning and
security. Seeing the impoverished local people brought this
issue to the forefront. If they are able to live happily in
the absence of financial security, why can’t my life
be even more joyful since I am in the family of God?!”
-- Johnny, Age 27.
